Richard Zajda, who suffers from Alzheimer's, vision impairment, and heart issues, was last seen by police on July 18, according to Virginia Beach Police.
Police said they recently notified him that his license was suspended due to his medical condition.
Zajda recently spoke with his son in California and informed him that he was traveling to New York City to see family and renew his license, authorities said.
He is described as 5'9 and 220 pounds, with gray hair, brown eyes, and driving a 2001 Ford F150, police said.
Officials said an emergency PING on Zajda's phone had him in the Williamsburg area.
Anyone with information on Zajda's whereabouts should contact police at 757-385-5000.
